ENS Explorer Alpha – FAQ

Quick answers on ENS Explorer Alpha on Sepolia Testnet

What is ENS Explorer Alpha?

ENS Explorer is one of two new apps designed for different audiences - the ENS App is for newcomers and everyday users, while the ENS Explorer is for developers and builders. Both are currently in Alpha on Sepolia Testnet.

Can I make name changes in ENS Explorer?

Some actions work, others are still being added.

Do I need Sepolia ETH?

Yes. The ENSv2 Sepolia testnet contracts are deployed on Ethereum Sepolia.

Where can I check wallet addresses and profile details?

Go to Records to view the addresses and other information linked to a name.

What are Roles?

Roles let you give another wallet specific controls over your name — like editing records or changing the resolver — without transferring ownership. Some roles aren't available yet.

Do I need to Deploy Registry?

To create subnames, you need to deploy a registry. The ENS default works for most cases. If you have specific requirements — like custom rules for how subnames work — you can deploy your own.

How can I view and create subnames?

The Subnames page lists all subnames under a parent name and who controls them. From this page you can create subnames.

Why can't I edit a name?

You need to connect a wallet that has the right permissions — either the Owner, or an address with a Role assigned.

What features are coming later?

DNS imports, and ownership and permissions changes are still in development.
