ENS App and Explorer are on the Sepolia testnet. Features may change before mainnet.
Register a .eth name in the ENS App at sepolia.app.ens.domains. You pay the yearly fee in stablecoins (e.g., DAI, USDC), and you need a little ETH for network fees (gas).
Before you start
Connect your wallet. See Connect a wallet.
Hold enough stablecoins (e.g., DAI, USDC) for the fee, and a little ETH for network fees (gas).
Prefer ENS Explorer? See Register a .eth name in ENS Explorer.
Steps
Search for the name. Type it into the search bar on the home page. If it's available, the registration page opens.
Choose how long. Pick a card: Starter (1 year), Committed (3 years) or Long-term identity (6 years). Or open Register to date and pick an expiry date. The summary shows the total.
Pay. Select Pay with stablecoins. If the app asks, turn on Smart Sessions. In the payment window, choose a stablecoin under Select payment (e.g., DAI, USDC) and whether to turn on Set as primary name, then select Register name. Approve in your wallet when asked.
Set notifications, or skip. Turn on expiry notifications to get an alert 30, 7 and 1 day before the name expires.
Wait for the registration to confirm. The name is yours. Next, edit your profile.
What it costs

Common questions
Why is the Register name button greyed out?
It stays greyed out until you choose a stablecoin under Select payment in the payment window. The window shows your balance for each stablecoin. Card payment isn't available.
Why does my wallet ask me to approve the stablecoin?
You pay in stablecoins, not ETH, so your wallet asks you to let ENS take the amount from your stablecoin balance before it completes the registration. See Paying with stablecoins on ENSv2.
Does registering a name make it my primary name?
Only if Set as primary name is switched on in the payment window, so check it before you pay. Apps then show the name instead of your 0x123...456 address, and your wallet asks you to approve setting it after the registration completes. You can also set a primary name later.
What's the shortest time I can register for?
28 days: set an end date in Register to date. There's no maximum, and you can add time later by renewing.
The name I want is in Price Cooldown. Can I register it?
Yes, with an extra fee that falls to $0 over 21 days. Someone else may register it first if you wait. See Price Cooldown.
The name has expired. Can I register it?
Not during its grace period: 28 days on ENSv2, or 90 for a name not yet upgraded. It can still be renewed at the normal price, and nobody else can register it. After that it goes into Price Cooldown. See Expiry & grace period.
Can I cancel or get a refund?
No. A confirmed registration can't be undone or refunded, so check the spelling before you pay.
I already own the name on ENSv1. Do I register it again?
No. Registering is for names you don't own yet. A name you already own on ENSv1 is upgraded instead. See Upgrade your name to ENSv2.
