ENS App and Explorer are on the Sepolia testnet. Features may change before mainnet.
You can renew a name at any time. You don't have to wait until it's near expiry. This works for names you haven't upgraded to ENSv2 too. Start by connecting your wallet and turning on Smart Sessions (see Connect a wallet). Using ENS Explorer? See Renew a name in ENS Explorer.
Renew one name
Open the name's profile. Go to the profile page for the name.
Start the renewal. On the profile, select Renew Name ». If it's someone else's name, select I understand when asked.
Choose how long. Pick a card: Starter, Committed or Long-term identity. Or open Renew to date and pick a new expiry date.
Pay. Select Pay with stablecoins. Approve the stablecoin payment in your wallet, then the renewal itself.
Wait for it to finish. The app shows Renewal Complete! when it's done.
Renew several names at once
Go to My Names on your dashboard.
Tick each name you want to renew, or tick Select all.
Select Renew ».
Pick 1 year, 3 years or 6 years, or select Renew to date instead. Each name shows its new expiry date and price, with a Total at the bottom. Select Next.
Choose a payment method under Select payment and select Confirm. Approve each prompt in your wallet. When Renewal Complete shows, select Done.
Only names upgraded to ENSv2 can be ticked. To renew names you haven't upgraded, renew each one on its own, or several at once in ENS Explorer.
Common questions
How do I pick a custom expiry date?
Select Renew to date and pick the date.
How does the price work?
Pricing is in USD. Renewing for two years or more discounts the whole renewal, not just the extra years. When you renew several names at once, each name costs its own price and the window shows the total. Full tiers: Multi-year discounts.
Why does my wallet ask more than once?
You pay in a stablecoin. One prompt gives ENS permission to take the amount from your stablecoin balance; the next does the renewal itself. Smart Sessions doesn't change this.
Can I pay by card?
No. You pay with stablecoins (e.g., DAI, USDC) from your connected wallet.
Can I renew someone else's name?
Yes. Any wallet can renew a .eth name. Renewing never changes who owns it or gives you any control over it.
Can I renew a name I haven't upgraded to ENSv2?
Yes. In the ENS App, open the name and select Renew Name », as above. The renewal page shows an ENSv1 only badge. You can't tick it for bulk renew in the ENS App; to renew several at once, use bulk renew in ENS Explorer. For what else you can do with the name in each app, see What can I do in the ENS App and in ENS Explorer?
Can I renew a name during its grace period?
Yes, and anyone can. The time you add goes onto the old expiry date, not onto the day you pay, so days already spent in grace come out of the term. An ENSv2 name has a 28-day grace period; a name you haven't upgraded keeps its 90-day grace period. After grace, anyone can register the name, with a Price Cooldown: a one-off extra fee for the first 21 days that starts high and falls to $0. If a name you haven't upgraded is in grace, renew it before you upgrade it to ENSv2. Full guides: Expiry & grace period · Price Cooldown.
