Note: The ENS App and ENS Explorer are both currently on Sepolia testnet. Behaviour and available features may change before mainnet.
The ENS App can alert you about name expiry, transfers, and ENS Labs updates. Expiry alerts are the main reason most people set this up — you'll be warned 30, 7, and 1 day before a name runs out.
There are two places to know. Settings is where you manage things — your contact methods and what you're notified about. The Inbox is where you view notifications once they arrive. Both live behind the bell icon in the top nav.
Set up notifications
Sign in with your wallet. Notifications sit behind a wallet sign-in (SIWE — Sign-In with Ethereum, a free signature that proves you own the wallet). Press Sign in with Wallet on the Verify your wallet prompt when the dashboard loads, or click your address pill (top right) and pick Verify wallet ownership. Until you sign in, the bell icon does nothing.
Open Settings. Click the bell in the top nav, then the cog at the top right of the panel.
Add a contact method. The settings page shows three cards:
Email — type your address, press
SEND VERIFICATION, then click the link in the email. The row flips to a green✓ Verified.Telegram — press
Telegram Notificationsand log in (see the FAQ below).Browser — press
ENABLE, allow the browser prompt, then flip the toggle on.
Choose what you're notified about. Once a contact method is verified, a Notification Preferences section appears with three toggles, all off by default: Name Expiry, ENS Labs Updates, and Favourited Name Expiry. Flip the ones you want and press
SAVE PREFERENCES.
Turn on expiry alerts
With a contact method verified, open Notification Preferences and switch on Name Expiry for names you own, and Favourited Name Expiry for names in your favourites. Press SAVE PREFERENCES. You'll be alerted 30, 7, and 1 day before a name expires.
Notification settings — manage how and what
Settings is where every notification decision lives. Reach it from the bell → cog, or the account dropdown (top right) → Notifications → Settings. From here you can:
Add or remove contact methods. For email, open the
…menu on the Email row and pickRemove, then confirm — the row clears so you can add a different address. (While the address is stillPending, that menu also offersResend Verification.) For Telegram, click the×on your handle pill and confirm.Choose your topics. The three toggles — Name Expiry, ENS Labs Updates, Favourited Name Expiry — are the only events you can turn on or off. Transfers, education, and onboarding alerts are always on once a contact method is verified, and in-app notifications are always on.
The notifications inbox — view what's arrived
The Inbox collects everything ENS sends you. Open it from the bell icon, or the account dropdown (top right) → Notifications → Inbox; the Inbox also links to Settings. Use the tabs to filter by All, Expiry, Transfers, Education, ENS Updates, or Onboarding, and flip the toggle to show only unread. Mark notifications read one at a time, or clear the lot with Mark all as read.
Common questions
Why is the bell doing nothing when I click it?
You haven't signed in with your wallet yet. The notifications hub is gated behind a wallet sign-in — once you've signed in, the bell works.
Why isn't my email getting notifications?
Two things to check — verification and preferences:
Make sure the email is verified: add it, press
SEND VERIFICATION, and click the link in the email. Nothing sends until the row shows a green✓ Verifiedpill.Make sure the preference is on: open Notification Preferences, switch on the toggle you want, and press
SAVE PREFERENCES. Verifying the email alone isn't enough — you need the matching preference switched on too.
What happens during the Telegram sign-in?
When you press Telegram Notifications, a window opens at oauth.telegram.org — that's Telegram's own login, not ENS. Pick your country, enter your Telegram phone number, and press CONTINUE. Then open Telegram on your phone, where you'll see a login request showing the site (app.ens.dev), your browser, and the request location; press Confirm. The window closes and your handle appears on the settings page. The ENS Earl bot (@ens_earl_bot) also opens a chat confirming you're connected.
If the window closes too early you'll see Popup closed before authentication — press Telegram Notifications again to retry. If your wallet has connected Telegram before, re-adding skips the login and completes in one click.
