Note: The ENS App and ENS Explorer are both currently on Sepolia testnet. Behaviour and available features may change before mainnet.
The ENS App (app.ens.dev) is the main place to get and look after a .eth name. You connect a wallet, search for a name you want, pay to register, and the name is yours. After that, the same app is where you renew it, set what it points to, build a public profile on it, and decide which name represents you across other apps and wallets.
What can I do in it?
Register a name. Search any
.ethname, pick a duration, pay.Renew names. From your dashboard, or directly on each name's profile.
Set a primary name. Tell other apps which name to show next to your address.
Edit your profile. Add a bio, avatar, contact details, social links, and addresses on other chains.
Manage notifications. Get a heads-up about expiry, transfers, and ENS Labs updates by email, Telegram, or browser push.
View other name profiles. View the profiles of other names, and those you've favourited.
Is this the only place to manage my names?
No. Both apps can register and renew names, edit records and set a primary name, so you can use whichever you prefer — the ENS App is the friendlier of the two for those everyday jobs. For deeper work like changing the resolver contract a name uses, granting roles to other wallets, or deploying a subregistry so you can create subnames, you'd use ENS Explorer (explorer.ens.dev). For most people, the ENS App is the one you'll use first and use most.
Is it the same as ENS Explorer?
No — they're two separate apps. The ENS App is built around getting and managing your own names. ENS Explorer covers the same ground but goes further, letting you inspect any name or address in detail and run advanced operations on names you own.
