You can renew a name's registration at any time. You don't have to wait until it's near expiry.
1. Go to the name's profile
Go to the profile page for the name.
2. Select Renew Name »
On the name's profile page, select Renew Name ».
3. Pick a duration
By years: use the slider or type a number.
By date: pick an expiry date from the calendar.
The annual rate and any multi-year discount show as you adjust the duration.
4. Pay
Choose a payment method (e.g., USDC).
Select Pay with stablecoins. With Smart Sessions on, the transaction runs in the background; with it off, approve it in your wallet.
5. Wait for the transactions to complete
When the renewal confirms, a green banner reads ✓ Renewal Complete! with the body The ENS domain has been successfully renewed. The right panel shows updated Renewal Details (Period, Fee, Total Paid, Expires). Select Back to profile to return to the name's profile page, where the new expiry is in effect.
Common questions
What's the difference between Renew Name » and UPGRADE TO RENEW NAME »?
Renew Name »is a one-step renewal: pressing it opens the renewal page and you pay to add time to a registration.UPGRADE TO RENEW NAME »looks like one action but it only upgrades: it moves the name from the older ENSv1 system to ENSv2. Once that confirms, go back to the dashboard, find the row (now showingRenew Name »), and select it to renew as another transaction. The upgrade itself adds a free 62-day renewal. That moves the expiry date 62 days later and puts the name on the shorter 28-day v2 grace period.
How do I pick a custom expiry date?
Select Renew to date to open a calendar picker. The picker accepts any date from the current expiry year up to about 100 years out.
How does the price work?
Pricing is in USD. Each tier has a per-year base price, and renewing for two years or more discounts the whole renewal, not just the extra years. So three years costs less than three times the one-year price. Full tiers: Multi-year discounts.
Can I renew someone else's name as a gift?
Yes. Select Renew Name » on the name and pay with your connected wallet. Renewals do not change ownership, and any wallet can renew a name's registration.
Can I renew a name during its grace period?
Yes. Anyone can renew it, and renewing never changes who owns the name. The time you add goes onto the old expiry date, not onto the day you pay. So the days already spent in grace come out of the term you pay for. Example: a name 10 days into grace, renewed by 30 days, comes back with 20 days of registration left. Multi-year discounts are worked out from the expiry date. Renew before grace ends: once it runs out, anyone can register the name. A v1 name in grace can't be upgraded to ENSv2 — renew it first, then upgrade.
What about credit-card payment?
Card payment is not available. You pay with stablecoins (e.g., USDC) from your connected wallet.
