Register a .eth name

Register a .eth name on app.ens.dev: search, pick a duration, pay with stablecoins, approve in your wallet.

Note: The ENS App and ENS Explorer are both currently on Sepolia testnet. Behaviour and available features may change before mainnet.

  1. Search for your name on app.ens.dev

  2. Choose how long you'd like to register it for

  3. Click Pay with stablecoins

  4. Set notifications, or skip

  5. Wait for the transactions to complete. The name is yours.

Start by connecting your wallet and enabling Smart Sessions.

1. Search for a name

Type the name you want into the search bar on the home page. If available, you'll see the registration page with pricing and duration options.

2. Pick a duration

  • By years — use the slider or type a number.

  • By date — pick an expiry date from the calendar.

The annual rate and any multi-year discount show as you adjust the duration.

3. Select and make payment

Choose payment method (USDC, DAI), then Click Pay with stablecoins. With Smart Sessions on, the transaction runs immediately in the background.

4. Set notifications, or skip

Turn on Expiry notifications to be alerted when your name is 30, 7, & 1 days from expiry.

5. Wait for the transactions to complete

When the transaction confirms, the banner updates to Registration complete - the name is yours. You'll land on a confirmation page with a Complete your profile button.

Common questions

Why is the BUY NAME button greyed out?

'BUY NAME' is greyed until you tap and select the payment option. Alongside payment options, your stablecoin balances (USDC, DAI) will be shown.

Why do some .eth names cost more than others?

ENS prices .eth names by character count. The cheapest tier is 5 or more characters; 4-character names and 3-character names are tagged "premium" and cost more. Each tier has a per-year base price; multi-year registrations get a discount on top (see the next question).

  • 5+ characters: $8/year.

  • 4 characters: $160/year (badge: 4 character premium name).

  • 3 characters: $640/year (badge: 3 character premium name).

So mywallet.eth (8 chars) is $8/yr for a one-year registration, but four.eth (4 chars) is $160/yr.

How does the multi-year discount work?

The length of time you're adding to a name will determine your discount tier. That discount rate is then applied to the entire registration being added. The same curve applies to all tiers (5+ char, 4-char, and 3-char) and to renewals as well as first-time registrations.

  • 1 year: full base price (no discount).

  • 2 years: 12.5% off the whole registration.

  • 3–5 years: about ~31% off the whole registration.

  • At least 6 years: about ~44% off the whole registration.

Example:

A 5+ character name registered for 6 years pays $4.50/yr × 6 = $27.00 total. The same name registered for one year pays $8. For the full table and worked examples for 4-char and 3-char names, see: What's changing with ENSv2 pricing, discounts, and grace period?

What about a credit card?
